Sam Chaplin, CFA

Chief Investment Officer, Owner

Sam earned a Finance degree from the University of Maine in 2013 and has a background in banking and hedge fund administration. He joined PFA in 2018 and is now responsible for managing investment research, trading, and reporting. Sam obtained his CFA designation in 2022 and currently serves as President of CFA Society Maine, a professional organization dedicated to investment education, ethics, and the advancement of the CFA credential in the state. A big part of what draws him to this work is helping clients make sense of noisy, fast-moving markets and feel confident in their financial decisions.

Sam grew up in Central Maine and has happily returned to put down roots there with his wife Amy and daughter Josephine. When he is not at his desk, you will likely find him on a mountain, a lake, or somewhere deep in the woods. Sugarloaf, Moosehead, and the North Maine Woods are among his favorite destinations, where he snowboards, camps, hikes, boats, and fishes whenever he gets the chance.
